Artist Statment

 

"In the dark there is mystery and also beauty". - John Alton

 

Each location that I photogrpahed has a specific memory attached to it. From horseriding through the woods, to taking nighttime walks. My interest in returning to these sites is to communicate something of the mystery and beauty I experienced,a connection with an ongoing memory. I have made interventions in some of the sites relating to specific moments and painted into the articically lit scene with a torch. 

 

I use a medium format Hasselblad film camera to capture all my images and print each of these images by hand in my darkroom.
